Sobriety Checkpoint & Saturation Patrol

On September 14, 2012 the St. Mary's district Sheriff's Office conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint in the region of Marvell Dean Road & Joy Chapel Road in Hollywood Maryland.  In addition to the sobriety checkpoint, saturation patrols were being conducted so the roadways nearby the checkpoint.

As an effect of the sobriety checkpoint & saturation patrol, the following actions were taken

33 traffic stops were conducted, two individuals were under arrest for driving while under the pressure of alcohol, 17 traffic citations issued, 11 written warnings were issued, seven spoken warnings issued, seven equipment repair orders issued & one vehicle was towed & stored.

During the process Cpl. J. Stone ended a vehicle for speeding on Marvell Dean Road in California, Maryland. The worker, recognized as Daniel Wayne Todd 31 of Clements, Maryland showed signs of intoxication.  Cpl. Stone administered a standardized ground sobriety check to Todd.  As an effect of the test Todd was placed under arrest for driving while under the power of alcohol. Cpl. James Stone act in response to the traffic end & administered a standardized field sobriety check to Somerville.
